WHAT IS A RELINE?

Is your denture loose? Do they fall out while you're talking? Have you lost a substantial amount of weight recently? The good news is that you may not need to go to the expense of a new denture...

Dentures  usually  need to be replaced between five and ten years depending on your individual circumstance. For many reasons including bone resorption, medications and weight loss, your dentures will become loose over time.

A reline provides a new fitting surface between your denture and your gums improving retention and comfort. A resilient, or soft lining can be of great benefit to those wearing a full lower denture. Resilient linings are a bit harder to keep clean and will need to be replaced every 2-3 years but can make the denture significantly more comfortable and in many cases can aid in retention.

SAME DAY RELINES

I would usually make you an appointment at 9:00am/9:30am to take impressions inside your denture and reline it through the course of the day. In most cases, I will have the denture back to you around 2.30 pm the same day so make sure you organise something soft for lunch. If you have an old denture that you can use as a spare then this is the day to bring it with you! I always tell my patients to keep their old dentures for times like these — it's always better to have an uncomfortable spare than no denture at all for the days where you need a reline or repair!
